Cheeseburger Pie (Gluten Free)

This is our version of Impossible Cheeseburger Pie.
It is my son's favorite and he said that I should call it my "signature dish"!

1 pound Ground Beef (I always use Grass Fed)
1 medium Onion, chopped
1Tbsp. Worcestershire  Sauce
1 tsp. Liquid Smoke
(This is optional and I know it raises eyebrows but,
the label says "All Natural" and it really gives that grilled burger flavor)
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/4 tsp. Pepper
1 cup Gluten Free Bisquick
1 cup Milk
2 Eggs
1 cup Cheddar Cheese, shredded

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.
In a cast iron skillet, add 1 Tbs. oil, ground beef and onions.

When the beef is brown and onions are becoming tender, add salt and pepper,
Worcestershire Sauce...

... and Liquid Smoke - if you dare!
Cook for 5 minutes more and remove from heat.

In a small bowl, combine the milk and eggs.

Whisk until combined.

Add the Gluten Free Bisquick and whisk until incorporated.

Spoon the beef and onion mixture into a lightly oiled pie dish.

Pour the batter over the beef mixture.

Sprinkle the cheese evenly over the top.
Bake at 400 degrees F. for 30-35 minutes.

Remove from the oven when the top is golden brown.
Let it rest for 5-10 minutes.

We like to serve it with Spinach Salad.
