Blackbird Bakery Cookie Jar Blend Gluten-Free
An excellent mix for bakery quality cookies you make at home.
I am in love with Blackbird Bakery! My friend and neighbor, Mary, introduced us to Blackbird Bakery when she brought our son a bunch of goodies as a "thank you" for dog-sitting. Her son is also on a gluten-free diet and she has been a great source of information to me, especially when we were new to Austin a little over a year ago. Blackbird Bakery is located in Lakeway, Texas. If you are in the neighborhood I highly recommend that you visit. Fortunately, if you can't visit the bakery, you can order products on line at:
Karen Morgan is the Baker who started Blackbird Bakery in 2002 and created these wonderful blends. You can buy the Cookie Jar Blend, Doughnuts & Fritters, Pies & Pasta, Pancake & Biscuit, Cake & Muffin, and Bread & Pizza. Each blend is $5.99 per 12 oz package. The shipping is $15 for up to 6 packages. That might seem high, but these are not your average store bought mixes. They are well worth the splurge. The Cookie Jar Blend makes 3 dozen cookies. As the package states: "Professional Grade Gluten-Free Flour Blends for the Everyday Chef". My family and I would agree after sampling these delicious cookies!
The recipe for Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies is on the back of the package. The directions are easy to follow and there are more cookie recipes to try using this blend on the website.
This is the first Blackbird Bakery Blend we have tried, but I will definitely give the others a try - look out for future posts!
